5 Days / 4 Nights – Luang Prabang & Nong Khiaw Discovery
Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang
Upon arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport, meet your local guide and driver for a transfer to your hotel for check-in and rest after your journey.
As the sun sets over the majestic Mekong River, enjoy a leisurely one-hour walking tour of Luang Prabang’s Night Market, where an eclectic mix of colourful fabrics, quilts, baskets, ceramics, clothing, and handmade paper crafts make perfect souvenirs. The market opens from sunset until 10:00 PM.

Day 2: Alms Giving – City Tour – Kuang Si Waterfall
Rise early to experience one of Luang Prabang’s most sacred traditions — the Alms Giving Ceremony, where around 300 monks walk silently through the streets to collect offerings of sticky rice and food from local residents.
Afterward, stroll through the lively morning market, where locals shop for fresh produce, meats, and spices. Continue exploring the city’s main cultural sites:
- Wat Xieng Thong, one of the largest and most important monasteries in Laos.
- Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham (Wat Mai), notable for its gilded façade and intricate bas-reliefs.
- The Royal Palace (National Museum), housing religious and cultural treasures from the former royal capital.
Then climb 328 steps to Mount Phousi, offering a stunning 360-degree view of the city and rivers below.
In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls, a multi-tiered cascade of turquoise pools surrounded by lush jungle. Along the way, stop at a local hill tribe village to experience traditional rural life before returning to your hotel.

Day 3: Luang Prabang – Nong Khiaw
After breakfast, depart Luang Prabang by private minivan for Nong Khiaw, a journey of approximately 3 hours through scenic mountain landscapes.
En route, visit Ban Na Yang, a Thai-Lue ethnic village famous for its cotton weaving and indigo dyeing traditions. Continue to explore the historic Tham Pha Tok Caves, used as shelters during the Indochina War.
Arrive in Nong Khiaw and check into your hotel. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this charming riverside town surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs.

Day 4: Nong Khiaw – Muang Ngoi Excursion
After breakfast, embark on a two-hour boat trip along the Nam Ou River to Muang Ngoi, a serene village nestled between towering cliffs and lush jungle.
Take a 40-minute walk to Tham Kang Cave, which once served as a bomb shelter during the Vietnam War era. Enjoy the tranquil countryside, explore local paths, and admire the scenic landscapes before returning by boat to Nong Khiaw.

Day 5: Phou Pha Deng Hike – Pak Ou Caves – Return to Luang Prabang
After breakfast, begin a morning hike to Phou Pha Deng Viewpoint, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Nong Khiaw and the surrounding karst mountains.
Following the hike, return to your hotel for refreshment and check-out.
Depart for Luang Prabang, stopping en route to visit the Pak Ou Caves, located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers. These sacred caves house hundreds of Buddha images left by pilgrims over the centuries.
Enjoy lunch and relaxation at a local riverside restaurant, then visit a nearby weaving village to see artisans working on traditional looms before continuing your journey back to Luang Prabang.
Arrive in town by evening — marking the end of the tour.
